Jack Petchey Awards Evening
On Thursday 3rd July at the Arts Depot, North Finchley, our Jack Petchey Award winners for the school year were presented with their medals.

Pictured with Councillor David Longstaff, the Deputy Mayor of Barnet, are Isaac Quaidoo, Carolyne Sarracino, Magdalena Domagala and Nanji Dashwep. Our other winners, who were unable to attend the ceremony, were Leema Malik, Wiktoria Nowak, Ali Mohamed, Vanda Franco and Christian Sossongo.

School Choir at the Barnet Schools Music Festival
The choir took part in the Barnet Schools Music Festival at the Arts Depot on 18th June 2014 and put on a fine display to impress all the primary schools attending. As ever they were a credit to St Mary's with their enthusiastic support for other acts and their friendliness and politeness towards everyone we met.
School Uniform
Summer uniform can be worn until October half-term. Polo shirts are available from the School Office priced at just £5 each. Stocks are very limited - we have now sold out of medium and large sizes and have only limited quantities of other sizes. Due to the school closure, we will not be ordering any more.
For further information regarding our uniform policy and expectations, please refer to your child's diary or the information pack given to you when your child began attending the school. You may also contact the school directly. Failure to comply will lead to school sanctions.
Are you travelling abroad this summer?
Please take the advice below received by the Headteacher from Public Health England:

Public Health England is advising that anyone planning on travelling overseas this year should seek health advice from their GP 6-8 weeks before they travel. This is to help minimise children and their parents acquiring infections abroad and becoming unwell on return to the UK. Where vaccinations are required, most are provided free by the NHS.

Further information regarding travel health can be found from the National Travel Health Network and Centre at

Fundraising update
Our nominated charity this year is the Teenage Cancer Trust - please see this video for details of the work that they do.
On Tuesday 29th April, we were delighted to receive a visit from Hailey Acton Deboick, who is a Regional Fundraiser for Teenage Cancer Trust. We were able to present her with a cheque for £1000, this being the first instalment of our charity fundraising this year. The photograph below shows Mrs Lapourides presenting the cheque to Hailey.
Some of our students took part in a sponsored bag pack at Sainsbury's in New Barnet on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April 2014 and raised further funds for the charity. They received certificates for their help.
Thank you for your continued support.
Scarlet Fever
Please see the attached letter and FAQ in relation to an increase in locally reported cases of Scarlet Fever from Public Health England.
